





(8am) Active Shooter for Campus Personnel (08:00 AM to 12:00 PM)
This training is designed to inform staff, faculty and students of Riverside Community College District of strategies that can be used to deter, detect, delay and possibly defeat an active shooter. It includes lessons learned from past active shooter and terrorist incidents. Participants will receive valuable information that will increase their effectiveness and may reduce the district’s potential for liability. The course consists of lectures, small group discussions, participant activities and table-top scenario.
Participants will be able to:
* Discuss strategies to detect, deter, and delay violent incidents.
* Discuss the lessons learned from different critical incidents on school campuses
* Identify steps of a campus lockdown.
* Distinguish between a terrorist event and an active shooter event.
• Observe law enforcement engaging in active shooter scenarios, and identify possible defense strategies that could be used during specific scenarios by non-law enforcement personnel.
• Define law enforcement priorities during an active shooter incident
• Discuss critical preparations and response techniques for campus personnel and students.

Disaster Preparedness with NIMS/SEMS/ICS Four (4) Hours of Flex Credit Available for Faculty All completion certificates (staff & faculty) must be submitted
OBJECTIVES: Participants will be able to
* Discuss mandates for Disaster Service Workers
* Identify the role of and activation triggers for an Emergency Operations Centers
* Identify steps to preparedness including conducting hazard and vulnerability assessments and preparing home/family, workspace and car for a disaster.
* Demonstrate basic knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS)
* Identify operating functions of the Standardized Emergency Management System, such as Management By Objectives, Accountability, Unity of Command, Span of Control, Common Terminology and Functional Job Descriptions.
Course can be taken FACE-TO-FACE or ON-LINE
