Welcome to RCC Student E-mail
(Windows Live by Microsoft)
When you apply to become an RCC student your official e-mail account is automatically set up*. All you need to do is activate it. RCC e-mail gives you access to important notices, new classes, class changes, wait list status, notices from Student Financial Services, faculty correspondence and more.
You should have received your RCC E-mail Address in the mail a few days after applying. If you did not receive it you can click here to find out what your e-mail address is.
When you activate your account you will be asked to provide an alternate e-mail address in case you forget your RCC e-mail password and need to be reminded of what it is. If you do not have an alternate or personal email account it is strongly advised that you get one before activating your RCC e-mail account. Hotmail.com, Yahoo.com and Gmail.com all offer free email accounts.
Steps to Activate your RCC e-mail:
Step 1: Go to mail.live.com to SIGN IN (not SIGN up) with your RCC E-mail Address. Your temporary password will be your 6-digit date of birth (ex: 061078). You will be asked to change it to a private password.
Step 2: Follow the Microsoft prompts to set up and activate your account. This is where it’s a good idea to be able to provide an alternate e-mail address.
Assistance is available
If you would like more assistance in setting up your account click here to launch the Student E-Mail tutorial. You can also view a full screen version of the tutorial here. If you are using Netscape, Firefox or a Mozilla browser, click here for assistance.
READ MESSAGES BEFORE THEY’RE DELETED
While it’s important for you to open RCC Mail often to read important messages, you must do so at least once every 180 days or all messages will be deleted.
CONTROL “SPAM” OR UNSOLICITED E-MAIL
It is possible that messages sent to you from RCC may be considered “spam” and sent directly to your junk folder. Please check your junk mail folder when you log in to ensure you do not miss any important e-mails from RCC. Being cautious about the sharing of your e-mail address while online will help reduce the amount of unsolicited e-mail you receive. Microsoft has a strict Anti-Spam Policy prohibiting the use of a Hotmail or other MSN e-mail account to send spam.
FORWARD RCC E-MAIL TO AN EXISTING E-MAIL ADDRESS
Relay e-mail that goes to your RCC mailbox to your own personal e-mail address so you don’t need to check multiple e-mail accounts.
*Effective with new/returning/continuing students in the 07 Fall term.
