Riverside City College Men’s Cross Country Secures Sixth Place at State Championship
The Riverside City College (RCC) men’s cross country team capped a successful season with a strong performance at the 3C2A State Championship on Saturday. Despite challenging weather conditions, the Tigers secured sixth place overall with 197 points, narrowly trailing fifth-place Cerritos College.
Sophomore Kailil O’Brien delivered an outstanding performance, finishing fifth overall with a time of 20:57.2. His impressive run earned him All-American honors, highlighting his leadership and dedication throughout the season.
Supporting the Tigers’ success were Martin Torres-Sandoval (36th, 21:46.5) and Damion Spralls, who claimed a top-50 finish with a time of 21:58.8. Daniel Nava (22:10.6), Jorge Guillen (22:21.3), Anthony Ruiz (22:21.7), and Joshua West (22:29.9) rounded out RCC’s scoring, showcasing the depth and determination of the team.
A representitive from athletics praised the team’s perseverance and effort: “This group faced tough conditions but showed resilience and heart. I’m proud of their hard work and the way they represented RCC on the state level.”
