District Police Department

Riverside City College is patrolled by the Riverside Community College District Police Department. Their role is to help maintain a safe worry-free atmosphere conducive to the pursuit of education. You will see District Police patrolling and performing regular non-emergency duties like parking enforcement, supervising college functions/special events, traffic control, securing college property and special assignments. The department also provides services such as:

  • Public safety escorts
  • Unlocking doors
  • Parking oversight
  • Security and special events

If you can’t take a bus (free for registered students), don’t like biking and live a little too far to walk…then you’re driving a vehicle to RCC campus. You need to know where to park, how to buy parking passes and the rules to follow.

Emergency Information and Notification

In a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. Otherwise call: 
On-campus: (951) 222-8171 
Off-campus: Call your local Law Enforcement Agency​ 
 
During the call, state the following: "This is an emergency" and provide the following information: 
The nature of the emergency

  • Your name
  • Phone number from which you are calling
  • Your location

Do not hang up until you are sure no further information is required, unless there is an immediate threat to your safety. 

RCC is equipped with Emergency Blue Phones which are strategically placed throughout the campus. Each phone is activated by pressing the red button which goes directly to the RCCD Police Dispatch Center. 

It is crucial to have various ways to contact you in the event of an emergency or critical event. Update your information in the RCC system to receive notifications by phone, text or emails. You may enter multiple phone numbers and email addresses. 

Students

  1. Log in to MyPortal
  2. Click on “Personal Profile” link located under the Personal Information tab
  3. Add your phone information, using the format XXX-XXX-XXXX, and select home, business or cell phone. You will also need to choose your provider
  4. Add or update your personal email address in the Personal Email Address box
  5. Check the certification box and click submit

Faculty and Staff  

  1. Log in to WebAdvisor
  2. Choose the Faculty or Employee Menu bar
  3. Click on “Personal Profile” link located under the User Account submenu
  4. Add your phone information, using the format XXX-XXX-XXXX, and select home, business or cell phone. You will also need to choose your provider
  5. Add or update your personal email address in the Personal Email Address box
  6. Check the certification box and click submit
