Riverside City College’s theatre program wrapped up a dazzling production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on February 17, leaving audiences captivated by its vibrant storytelling, stunning visuals, and high-energy performances. Directed by RCC’s own Jodi Julian, the production brought together students, alumni, and professional performers to create a truly unforgettable theatrical experience.

Starring RCC alumnus Morgan Reynolds as Joseph and community member Chelsea Emma Franko as the Narrator, the show exemplified the college’s commitment to fostering talent and bridging the gap between student performers and industry professionals. The 40-member cast, composed largely of students from RCC’s esteemed theatre program, embraced the opportunity to perform alongside seasoned artists, making the production a unique blend of mentorship and collaboration.

“This collaboration is what makes RCC unique,” said Morgan Reynolds. “It’s not just a show—it’s a mentorship, a celebration of learning, and a community coming together.”

The production featured a breathtaking three-story set, dazzling costumes, and innovative video wall projections that brought Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beloved musical to life in an exciting new way. With themes of resilience, forgiveness, and the power of dreams, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat resonated deeply with audiences of all ages.

For Reynolds, returning to RCC was a deeply personal experience. “RCC was where I discovered my love for theatre. Coming back to this stage almost 20 years later feels like coming home,” they shared.

Chelsea Emma Franko echoed that sentiment, recognizing RCC as a pivotal part of her early career. “This stage shaped me as a performer, and I hope this production inspires students to dream as big as I did,” she said.

Under Julian’s direction, the show not only entertained but also reinforced RCC’s legacy as a hub for artistic growth and professional development. With each production, the RCC Theatre Department continues to provide students with the tools and experiences necessary to succeed in the performing arts.
