UMOJA justice walk

The UMOJA Queens of Riverside City College took to the streets for their latest Girl Trek event, uniting in a powerful display of joy and justice. Participants donned their superhero blues, laced up their comfortable shoes, and embarked on a one-mile journey from Kane to downtown Riverside with the theme, “Justice as Healing.”

Guided by the powerful words of the National Black Women’s Justice Institute—“We envision a society where healing—not punishment—is upheld as justice”—the UMOJA Queens set out to create a safe and empowering space for Black women of all ages. The multi-generational walk was more than a demonstration; it was a movement, advocating for justice through community healing and collective strength.

With a great turnout, the event highlighted the power of collective action and the importance of creating spaces for healing and empowerment. The enthusiasm and energy of the participants reflected the deep commitment to justice and wellness within the community.

These walks serve as a sanctuary for Black women, offering an opportunity to reflect, connect, and reclaim joy as an act of resistance. Through their commitment to wellness and justice, the UMOJA Queens continue to inspire change, one step at a time.
