On October 23, Riverside City College (RCC) opened its doors to students and their families for “Bring Your Kids to School Day,” an event designed to strengthen community bonds and support student parents. Organized by the Student Parent Organization with assistance from RCC Outreach, the event created a lively atmosphere where children, parents, and the campus community came together to explore all RCC has to offer.

With logistical help from Outreach, the day featured chalk and bubble activities for children, ensuring a playful experience for younger attendees. Participants also received $10 meal vouchers to enjoy lunch behind the cafeteria, where families gathered to relax as the children created colorful street art. As part of a collaborative effort, the Student Parent Club publicized RCC’s upcoming “Back to School for You” event within their parent networks, further expanding outreach to the community.

The event brought together a range of campus departments, clubs, and programs. Attendees interacted with representatives from the Jewelry Club, Chemistry Club, and Sustainability Club, along with members of RCC’s Business Department, Career Closet, and Distance Education program. The RCC Campus Police also participated, bringing a patrol vehicle for children to explore.

A guided campus tour allowed families to explore key locations, including the garden, Kane Building, library, makerspace, courtroom, and cafeteria. The tour highlighted RCC’s wide range of resources and emphasized the support available for students balancing academics and family life.

The day concluded with an outdoor lunch from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., where families enjoyed meals together, accompanied by street art activities for the children.

Through events like “Bring Your Kids to School Day,” RCC continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating an inclusive campus that supports the diverse needs of students and encourages meaningful connections.
