Riverside City College Celebrates Annual Halloweentown with Community Festivities

Riverside City College (RCC) hosted its annual Halloweentown event on Friday, October 25, 2024, bringing together students, families, and community members for an evening filled with Halloween magic with over 500 families and 1000+ children in attendance. 

The event, a long-standing RCC tradition spanning over 20 years, offered a wide array of activities and entertainment, creating a vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere across campus. Highlights included: 

  • Spooky Maze: Attendees braved a maze filled with eerie twists, playful scares, and surprises, making it a thrilling experience for all ages. Hosted by our Theatre department. 
  • Trick-or-Treat Stations: Children enjoyed trick-or-treating at various themed booths, gathering candy and treats in a safe, welcoming environment. 
  • Live Music and Entertainment: RCC student musicians and local performers provided festive tunes, creating an upbeat soundtrack for the night’s celebrations--Performances by RCC Marching Tigers and new Dance Motion Company.
  • Giveaways and Prizes: Attendees participated in raffles and contests, with winners taking home RCC-themed merchandise and gifts from community partners.

“Halloweentown is more than just a celebration—it’s a way for RCC to strengthen ties with our community,” said Dr. Claire Oliveros, RCC President. “Seeing so many families, students, and neighbors come together to share in the festivities was truly heartwarming.” 

The event saw a remarkable turnout, cementing its reputation as one of the most anticipated gatherings of the season. Over 30 RCC clubs were in attendance passing out candy and engaging with the community. RCC extends its gratitude to all the volunteers, students, and community partners who made this year’s Halloweentown a memorable experience. 

RCC looks forward to welcoming the community back for future events, continuing the tradition of connection, fun, and celebration.
