Local Leaders Kick Off #CaliforniansForAll College Corps at RCC
On April 13, local college and university leaders met with California's Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and Chief Service Officer Josh Fryday, at Riverside City College to encourage students to apply for the inaugural class of the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps.
With a strong commitment to the communities RCC serves, the College is honored to be chosen by Governor Newsom to participate as an inaugural College Corps member. "Through this program, our students will thrive, gaining economic mobility and strengthening social justice in our communities," President Gregory Anderson, Ed.D., said.
Students who complete 450 hours of service with College Corps will receive $10,000, plus academic credit, work experience, training, networking opportunities, and a sense of pride and accomplishment in working toward a common purpose alongside young leaders from across the state.
"RCC is committed to connecting our students with the community, providing them with a better understanding of themselves and others through civic engagement and service learning opportunities. Over the past few years, RCC has expanded its efforts in connecting students to leadership and learning opportunities. Those positions, thanks to the generosity of foundations and public grants, receive compensation, a key component of equitable opportunities.
