Shelter In Place Ordered At Riverside City College, Suspect In Custody
At 9:36 this morning, Riverside City College students, faculty and staff received a shelter-in-place order. Riverside Community College District Police Chief Chris Cano reported “students entering the Cosmetology building noticed a male on campus carrying a knife. Members of the RCCD Police Department responded, pursuing the suspect to the north side of the campus. The individual entered a storm drain tunnel where he was confronted by police and refused to submit to arrest. He eventually barricaded himself behind buildings and police further engaged with the suspect. Ultimately, the suspect, who has not been identified, was tased and taken into custody. No police were injured during the incident. The College returned to normal operations with classes and activities resuming at 1:30 pm.”
