In the heart of Riverside City College, where every interaction can shape the student experience, two remarkable individuals, Sonseeahray LeGault and Daion Jones, have stepped into pivotal roles within the Office of the President. These positions, newly created to enhance the professionalism and welcoming atmosphere of the office, are more than just jobs; they represent a bridge between the administration and the student body. As the first faces that greet visitors, Sonseeahray and Daion are not only learning the inner workings of RCC but also embodying the college’s mission of service and excellence. Their journeys to these roles are as unique as they are inspiring, reflecting their commitment to personal growth and their desire to contribute meaningfully to the RCC community.

Sonseeahray LeGault’s journey to RCC is a story of determination and self-discovery. Originally from Texas, Sonseeahray relocated to California in 2001 and embraced the Golden State as her new home. As a single mother to a 16-year-old daughter, she successfully balanced her career as a project engineer in the landscaping industry. However, the high demands of her profession prompted her to reassess her life’s direction, leading her to RCC in pursuit of personal and professional growth. Enrolled as a sociology major with plans to graduate in 2026, Sonseeahray is exploring her path one semester at a time, contemplating possibilities such as law school, writing, and psychology.

Her motivation to join the Office of the President was sparked by a job fair at RCC, where she sought deeper involvement in the school’s operations. The opportunity to work closely with the President’s team provides her with valuable insights into the resources and support systems available to students. Sonseeahray is passionate about helping others and views this role as a chance to refine her professional skills while contributing to the RCC community.

“I aim to learn extensively about the school’s support systems for students and assist my peers in navigating their challenges. I’m committed to representing the President’s office with excellence and serving as a resource for my fellow students,” she shared.

In her free time, Sonseeahray enjoys writing poetry, practicing yoga, and meditating, fueling her aspirations for a future in law, counseling, or psychology.

Daion Jones, a recent graduate of Riverside Polytechnic High School, found his way to RCC as he navigated the uncertainty of life after high school. Initially unsure of his path, Daion chose RCC as the ideal place to explore his interests and determine his future. Now a Sociology major, expected to graduate in 2025, Daion is on a focused journey towards law school with aspirations of becoming an attorney.

The opportunity to work in the Office of the President has been transformative for Daion. With no prior work experience, he was eager to find a job that would allow him to support himself while gaining valuable experience. The role in the President’s office not only provides the perfect fit but also aligns with his goals of professional development. Daion is committed to contributing positively to the RCC community, whether by assisting visitors, honing his skills, or representing the values of the President and the college.

“I hope to contribute by helping others in any way I can, whether it’s pointing them in the right direction or simply listening to their concerns. I’m grateful for this opportunity to represent the President’s office and to give back to the RCC community,” he expressed.

When not in the office, Daion enjoys exercising, playing the clarinet, and diving into video games, with pasta being his go-to comfort food.

Both Sonseeahray and Daion embody the spirit of RCC’s commitment to student leadership, professionalism, and service. Their roles in the Office of the President enhance the office’s operations, and provides them with invaluable experience that will shape their futures. Under the guidance of President Claire Oliveros, these student leaders are poised to make significant contributions to the RCC community while pursuing their academic and professional goals.
