In a significant achievement, the spring 2023 graduating classes of Riverside City College's (RCC) nursing program recorded a 100% first-time pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exams. This success comes amid changes to the exam aimed at enhancing rigor and evaluating clinical judgment.

Tammy Vanthul, Dean of the School of Nursing, credited the accomplishment to faculty dedication and expertise. Faculty members underwent professional development over the past two years, focusing on refining curriculum and teaching strategies to strengthen students' critical thinking skills.

The nursing program secured grants for expansion, and faculty collaborated with apprenticeship partners to ensure students have the necessary resources and skills. Dean Vanthul highlighted the achievement as a testament to RCC's leadership in nursing education.

RCC's nursing faculty reflects diversity initiatives, with 35% of full-time faculty from minority or historically marginalized groups. In a field primarily represented by females, 18% of full-time faculty are male.

The RCC nursing program stands out with a 100% first-time pass rate, reinforcing its position in nursing education.
