RCC Shines Bright at Riverside Pride Gayla 2023: Honored with Prestigious Advocacy Award
Riverside Pride, a prominent LGBTQ+ organization in the Inland Empire region, recently hosted the Riverside Pride Gayla 2023 with a Moulin Rouge theme. The event brought together individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing LGBTQ+ equality and advocacy in the community. Among the attendees were members of the Riverside City College (RCC) LASSE team, Al Weyant-Forbes, Drea Dillon, and Jennifer Shaw, who were recognized and honored for LASSE’s significant contributions.
One of the standout moments of the evening was a speech delivered by California 60th District Assemblymember, Corey Jackson (DSW), a respected figure within the community. Jackson's words resonated deeply, reminding everyone that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights is an ongoing battle that should never be abandoned. His commitment to continuing the advocacy work for the community's rights in the future served as a motivating call to action.
RCC's LASSE was one of the recipients of the 2023 Riverside Pride Advocacy Awards in recognition of their exceptional efforts. The acknowledgment brought about a wave of emotions, combining both a sense of gratification and deep appreciation from. It signified the culmination of their collective efforts, and it showcased the impact their advocacy work had on fostering an inclusive and supportive LGBTQ+ community at Riverside City College.
