Spring Recruitment Designed to Increase Equitable Access

Jan 25
Spring 2021
According to Community College Review, “The largest community college system in the nation is experiencing a 20-year low in enrollment.” Most colleges in the state are struggling to recruit or retain students. While RCC’s student enrollment for the Winter session was strong, about 110% of target, the Spring enrollments are lagging behind.  With only a few weeks remaining in the Spring registration period, recruitment efforts are essential.

Enrollment Services and Marketing implemented a variety of recruitment techniques including running advertisements on radio, both local and Internet stations, engaging in targeted marketing, conducting social media outreach, and disseminating messages through texts and email campaigns.  Additionally, Calling Tigers is reaching out to 3,500 students a week.

However, one of the most successful recruitment tactics is face-to-face marketing. To provide direct support to prospective students, the Outreach team is hosting Tiger Roar on Wednesday, February 10th. Prospective students are invited to participate in this one-stop enrollment day.

Efforts beyond Student Services can help drive enrollment further. Every member of the RCC family can contribute through outreach, connecting with family, friends, neighbors, and members of the community. This is your chance to communicate the benefits of enrolling at RCC:
  • increased course offerings - classes are available in most disciplines
  • institutional value - college is affordable, just $46 per unit
  • students can succeed in an online learning environment
  • counselors and academic support help ensure success
Information about becoming a student is available on the Become a Student page.
