Riverside City College Appoints Dr. Kristi Woods as Interim Vice President of Planning and Development
Riverside City College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristi Woods as Interim Vice President of Planning and Development, effective September 18, pending Board of Trustees' approval.
Dr. Woods, who has served as Dean of the Division of Languages, Humanities, and Social Science since 2017, has led the division to 30% growth under her tenure. Her commitment to equity is demonstrated by the fact that over 60% of the faculty hired in her division during her leadership have been faculty of color.
A dedicated educator and advocate for social justice, Dr. Woods has a long-standing history of service at RCC, including leadership roles in various committees and councils. Her academic journey includes the University of Southern California, where she earned her Master's and Doctoral degrees in U.S. History, making her the first African American to receive a Ph.D. from USC’s Department of History.
Dr. Woods is a respected member of the RCC community, known for her passion for student equity and her leadership in initiatives such as the Umoja program and the development of college Student Equity Plans.
