Black Student Success Week Celebrated
Students, faculty, and staff at RCC, along with California Community Colleges, hosted the second annual Black Student Success Week, April 26 – 30. Events were designed to teach attendees about inequality in higher education, ways to get involved in advocacy, and approaches for improving success amongst Black and African American students. This year’s theme was "Follow the Money: Unapologetically Supporting Black Students." Events like this demonstrate RCC's commitment to ensuring the academic and social success of our Black and African American students.
Daily virtual webinars were open to students, faculty, staff, and the community. Topics included:
- Follow the Money: Unapologetically Supporting Black Students
- The ADT Journey for African American Students
- Equity and Black Leadership in Higher Education
- Legislative Briefing: Actively Advocating for Black Student Success
- Faculty Diversity
Participants were also encouraged to read the State of Higher Education for Black Californians and the Follow the Money reports.
