Dear RCC Tiger Family,

Thanksgiving week is upon us, and it is a great time to reflect on all we are grateful for – family, friends, and the many blessings in our lives. It’s helpful to remember that Thanksgiving is not just a day, it should be our daily attitude.

At RCC, we have a lot to be thankful for. I am especially thankful for our campus community, and all of you who day in and day out work to make this place a college of distinction. Your heart, resiliency, and commitment to excellence are inspiring and it does not go unnoticed.

To our employees, thank you for your diligence in upholding our mission, vision, and values. You are a beacon of light in so many of our student's lives as they matriculate in their academic and career journeys.

To our students, thank you for pressing into purpose and not giving up on your academic success. We know the pandemic was not easy and neither has the recovery, but you are proving to be victors.

As we gear up for feasting on our favorite holiday foods and hopefully spending time with family and friends, think about the blessings you have been given and think about the importance of being a blessing to others. Not all people celebrate Thanksgiving, but we can all celebrate thankfulness.

Stay connected and support each other. Our Tiger stripes run deep because we are a diverse, inclusive community that looks out for one another. We recognize that we cannot do this alone, but together we can do great things. This is one of the many reasons I am so thankful to be your Interim College President.

Let us focus on finishing this last wave of the semester strong and having a joyful, restful, memorable Thanksgiving holiday.

 Happy Thanksgiving Tigers!

Need a little help?

The Basic Needs Resource Center (BNRC) is available to all RCC students in need. We define NEED as a situation where students face financial challenges and would otherwise have limited resources to supplement their meals. Managers, faculty, and classified professionals may also refer students to the Basic Needs Supervisor for additional resources (including RCC Basic Needs sustainability vouchers for cafeteria, gas, rent/housing, grocery store, and assistance signing up for Cal Fresh benefits). The goal is to help supplement basic needs and promote sustainability for student wellness and success.
