A Week of Women March 22-26, 2021

Mar 20
Week of Women 2021

Every year March is designated Women’s History Month by Presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history.

Did You Know? Women’s History Month started as Women’s History Week

Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978. The organizers selected the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women’s Day. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week celebrations the following year.

This year the theme of International Women’s Day was “Choose to Challenge” and the Associated Students of Riverside, Moreno Valley, and Norco Colleges are proud to bring you

A WEEK OF WOMEN March 22-26, 2021.

MONDAY, MARCH 22 – CELEBRATION OF WOMEN VIRTUAL EXHIBIT

Start the week by viewing the “Girlhood (Its complicated)” Exhibit through the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
Girlhood (It’s complicated) commemorates the anniversary of woman suffrage by exploring the concept of girlhood in the United States, but also how girls changed history in five areas: politics, education, work, health, and fashion. We argue that girlhood has an unexpected and complicated history and that girls, like suffragists, used their voices to make a difference.
