Home Health Aide
Provides overview of home health care agencies. Focuses on the roles and responsibilities of Certified Home Health Aides. Includes discussion of federal & state regulations, guidelines for provision of direct care in home settings, and supervised clinical practice in home or long-term care settings.

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

Provide quality, safe, patient-centered care as a home health aide designed by the state-mandated theory and clinical modules.

Demonstrates appropriate ethical, legal and professional principles while implementing the home health aide (HHA) role.

Performs the duties of the home health aide (HHA) under the leadership of the licensed vocational or registered nurse.

Demonstrates caring behaviors through home health aide skills that positively influence health outcomes and displays sensitivity to the values of others.

Maintains collaborative relationships with other members of the healthcare team.

Uses critical thinking principles as a home health aide to recognize and report impending emergencies in the home care setting.
