Riverside City College Honors Outstanding Associate Faculty for Dedication and Impact
Riverside City College (RCC) proudly celebrates its exceptional associate faculty members who have gone above and beyond in fostering student success and engagement. Recognized by RCC's Faculty Development Committee, this year’s honorees are Lucille (Lucy) Durfee, Erika Goe, Andrea Herrera, Ashley Magana, and Henry Cascella, each commended for their unique contributions to their fields and dedication to inspiring the next generation of learners.
- Lucille (Lucy) Durfee, a passionate math instructor, finds fulfillment in helping students reach new academic heights. “Teaching Math is perfect. I love math and helping students get to their next level of academia is wonderful and fulfilling, especially when students share their future endeavors,” she shares.
- Erika Goe brings dance education to RCC, enriching the lives of students through creative expression. “Having the opportunity to teach at RCC and give back to my community through dance education has been one of the greatest blessings in my life,” she reflects.
- Andrea Herrera, an English instructor with over a decade of experience at RCC, deeply values her students’ diversity and growth. She notes, “My students are from diverse backgrounds and always come together to learn, grow, and have lively conversations. It is wonderful to see them continue their education and succeed.”
- Ashley Magana, a former RCC student and now an anthropology instructor, aims to cultivate an environment of intellectual curiosity and ownership. She emphasizes, “The essence of education transcends markers like grades; I strive to create a space for students to actively shape their learning.”
- Henry Cascella has been an adjunct professor at RCC for over ten years. A passionate advocate for effective communication, Cascella states, “My goal is to empower students with the knowledge that their voice matters and to help them communicate effectively.”
These associate faculty members exemplify RCC’s commitment to excellence and the transformative power of education. As Vice President of Academic Affairs Lynne Wright remarks,
