Riverside City College (RCC) proudly participated in an in-person engagement session on November 21 at Mt. San Antonio College. Hosted by WestEd, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, and the United Domestic Workers (UDW), the event brought together Cohort 2 college planning teams to develop strategies for improving pathways for adult learners.

The session emphasized a strength-based approach to linking people, programs, and jobs. RCC representatives, including Delia Tijerina, engaged in discussions that highlighted:

  • Recognition of Strength-Based Skills: Leveraging the skills UDW learners bring to both the classroom and the workforce.
  • Enhancing Career Services: Aligning services with industry requirements to connect learners to job and career opportunities.
  • Expanding Work-Based Learning Opportunities: Increasing industry exposure, building social capital, and fostering employer investment.

Participants also created student journey maps, focusing on identifying barriers and opportunities for UDW adult learners to better support their workforce development goals. The maps aimed to provide actionable insights for enhancing educational access and career success.
