Morgan Reynolds: From RCC Student to International Theatre Star and Joseph’s Leading Role
For Morgan Reynolds, stepping into the role of Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Riverside City College is more than just a performance—it’s a homecoming. From humble beginnings at RCC to a global career spanning Disney’s most iconic stages and creative projects, Morgan’s journey exemplifies the extraordinary potential that RCC nurtures in its students.
Morgan’s theatre career started unexpectedly. Raised on a farm, Morgan had a passion for agriculture and spent their youth raising livestock. “Acting wasn’t even on my radar,” Morgan shares. That all changed after enrolling at RCC and joining Jodi Julian’s theatre program. Their debut performance in Godspell opened a door to a world they hadn’t yet imagined.
It was a pivotal first step that led Morgan to their first major role: Life Could Be a Dream at Roger Bean’s renowned Sh-Boom Productions. This opportunity not only launched Morgan into professional theatre but also gave them their first taste of performing at a professional level. "I remember thinking, ‘This is it—this is what I want to do with my life.’ It was a surreal moment," Morgan recalls.
From there, Morgan's career flourished. They spent over a decade performing with Disney, appearing at Disneyland, on Disney Cruise Line, and even internationally at Hong Kong Disneyland. Their standout performances as a media ambassador for Disney opened doors to a behind-the-scenes career, combining their love of design with themed entertainment projects. Morgan was part of the team that opened Shanghai Disney’s Castle of Magical Dreams during the pandemic, a milestone that remains one of their proudest accomplishments.
Despite their success, RCC’s theatre program remains close to Morgan’s heart. “RCC gave me the foundation I needed to thrive as both a performer and a creative professional. I learned the tools of the trade on that stage, and now I get to bring those lessons full circle,” they share.
Morgan invites audiences to see them as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, running February 7–16. “This production is something special. It’s big, it’s bold, and it’s everything I love about theatre,” Morgan says.
