In a continued effort to enhance student mental health services and campus safety, Riverside City College (RCC) employees attended the National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA) training conference. The event provided specialized training on best practices for behavioral intervention teams, ensuring institutions have the tools and strategies to support student well-being effectively.

RCC representatives a long side NC, and MVC, participated in sessions focused on proactive intervention strategies, risk assessment, and case management, equipping them with innovative approaches to strengthen the College’s Mental Health program. This initiative is dedicated to identifying students in distress, connecting them with appropriate resources, and fostering a supportive campus environment.

“Attending NABITA allowed us to bring back valuable insights and strategies to further support our students,” said Dr. Mary Rankin, Mental Health Services Supervisor. “Our goal is to create a campus culture where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to seek help when they need it.”

By implementing NABITA’s research-based techniques, RCC aims to improve collaboration among campus departments, enhance mental health outreach, and reinforce early intervention efforts to prevent crises before they escalate.
