Riverside City College (RCC) faculty recently wrapped up an engaging and successful FLEX Week, held from August 14-16, with additional bonus sessions extending into the weekend. This annual event, part of the Flexible Calendar Program, focuses on enhancing professional development and instructional practices among RCC faculty.

Throughout the week, faculty members participated in a dynamic mix of in-person and virtual sessions. The event featured a variety of workshops and presentations, including an impactful keynote by Dr. Gina Ann Garcia on “Defining Servingness in Practice at Hispanic Serving Institutions.” Faculty had the opportunity to explore updates on Guided Pathways, engage in equity-focused discussions, and attend sessions aimed at enhancing course accessibility and addressing achievement gaps for underrepresented STEM students.

Virtual sessions provided additional learning opportunities, covering topics such as leveraging AI for workplace efficiency and implementing equity in the classroom. These sessions were well-received, with faculty actively participating in discussions on innovative teaching strategies and best practices.

The week also included bonus sessions, offering practical workshops on Canva design, budget and financial landscape, and so much more. These additional sessions provided further opportunities for faculty to enhance their skills and apply new tools in their professional roles.

RCC’s FLEX Week was marked by high engagement, valuable insights, and collaborative learning. The diverse range of sessions and workshops equipped faculty with new tools and strategies, setting a positive and inspiring tone for the upcoming academic year.
