RCC Student Life and Leadership: Year-End Highlights
RCC's Student Life and Leadership department experienced a vibrant resurgence this past academic year as the campus adjusted to a post-COVID environment. The department organized four dynamic student leadership training sessions, covering essential topics such as Parliamentary Procedure, event management, and emotional intelligence. Advisor training luncheons each semester provided valuable support for over 60 faculty and classified professional advisors.
Campus engagement was impressive, with 40 active and registered clubs and 17 co-curricular organizations involving approximately 3,500 students. The ASRCC Student Government was highly active, including the President, Vice President, 10 Executive Council Directors, 9 Senators, and about 10 volunteers. Nearly 100 ASRCC events were organized, including signature activities like the Low Rider Car Show and GradFest, which drew about 6,500 attendees. Registered clubs also hosted around 200 events throughout the year.
The ASRCC Resource Center had a significant impact, serving 25,000 students through numerous visits. Volunteer efforts were substantial, with students contributing nearly 8,000 hours in the fall and almost 9,000 in the spring. At the May 30 banquet, 121 students were honored for completing 50 or more volunteer hours.
These achievements reflect the dedication and enthusiasm of RCC’s students, faculty, and classified professionals, showcasing a thriving and engaged campus community. Student Life and Leadership is looking forward to another successful year.
